My Seasonal Favourites: Fall

As we head into September, I am starting to get more and more excited about the upcoming season! I say this about every season, but I really do think that Fall is my favourite. It is the perfect time to start cozying up while still being able to go outside without freezing. I want to share some of my favourites for the cooler weather, from movies and songs, to clothing items and scents.

Movies/TV Shows

  • Fantastic Mr. Fox
    • I watched this for the first time last year and loved it!! The visuals of this movie just made it so interesting to watch. I absolutely love how the everything is warm-toned, it really felt like a Fall movie to me.
  • Pretty Little Liars
    • I have slightly mixed opinions on this show. However, I did really love it and watched it all thoughout the fall and winter last year. The murder mystery vibe made it feel a little creepy and perfect for Halloween. I plan to rewatch this very soon!
  • Gilmore Girls
    • I think this is one of the most popular Fall/Winter recommendations, and for good reason! Gilmore Girls is so timeless and especially in the earlier seasons, gives me even more motivation for school. It is a fun way to romanticize the Fall semester!

Books

  • The Perks of Being a Wallflower
    • This was heartbreaking in the best way. The way the book talks about mental health can be really comforting as the shorter days start to bring down my mood.
  • If We Were Villains
    • This is another murder mystery that has a unique twist. I found it so so cool how the actual plot is intertwined with the shakespeare plays that the students are involved in. The entire vibe of this book was amazing, I want to reread this soon.

Clothing

  • Wide leg/Straight leg jeans
    • I am a firm believer that baggy jeans are significantly better than skinny jeans. Not only are they so much more comfortable, they look so good!! I mostly own wide leg jeans right now, but I am always checking the denim aisle at thrift stores because I want to find some more straight leg pairs!
  • Knitted sweaters
    • My collection of knitted sweaters has been evergrowing. There are a few that I absolutely love, like my folklore cardigan or a red crewneck. They are so cozy and fit the Fall aesthetic so well.
  • Skirts
    • I have recently started adding more skirts to my wardrobe and they are quickly becoming a favourite. Specifically my denim skirt, I am so excited to wear it in the Fall with a sweater and tights!

Albums

  • Harry Styles
    • More specifically, Ever Since New York, which is the epitome of Fall.
  • evermore
    • This is so clearly a Fall album. I will never get over tolerate it or evermore.
  • the record
    • I’m not really sure why this feels like Fall to me, but it definitely does. True Blue is like watching sunset with some close friends while curled up in blankets. It is perfect.
  • Hozier
    • From Eden and Cherry Wine are among my favourite songs of all time. This whole album has every vibe you could be looking for in the Fall months.

Foods/Drinks

  • Apple crisp/Apple pie
    • Apple is hands down the best pie flavour. Anything apple flavour is just so perfect in the Fall, it is always my first choice.
  • Chai
    • I discovered iced chais this summer after a friend recommended it to me, and I’m now hooked! I am so excited for the cooler weather and Fall menus to come out so I can a try hot chai with pumpkin or apple syrup.
  • Cinnamon Buns
    • I made these with a friend last Fall and had so much fun! We used string to make them look like pumpkins after baking. I found a random recipe, but it ended up being so so good.
  • Creamy Potato or Tomato soup
    • There is nothing better than soup and a dinner roll in the Fall. I tried Panera’s tomato soup and I want to try recreating it! I also love my mom’s recipe for potato leek soup.

Bath And Body Works Scents

  • Leaves
    • The name is a little misleading, this is actually an apple scent. It is SO nostalgic for me and brings me right back to art classes when I was little. This is specific to me, I know, but regardless of my connection with it, this candle smells so so good.
  • Warm Vanilla Sugar
    • Like almost everyone, I am a sucker for warm vanilla sugar. This is my go-to perfume come September because it just fits any occasion.
  • Merry Cookie
    • I bought this for the first time in 2021 and I still love it. I’m not 100% sure if you can even get this anymore, but I need to share this in case anyone already has it! This smells so warm and delicous, like fresh baked cookies. Love love love!!
  • Into The Night
    • I’m not exactly sure why, but this is my favourite “going out” scent for the Fall. It is a little spicy and feels fancier than a lot of other sweet Fall scents, making it a perfect choice for an alternative scent.

This was fun to write! I loved reflecting on some of the things that I am looking forward to this Fall. I hope this list gave you some ideas of things you may want to introduce into your life in the next few months!!

All the love,

Grace
