Gracie Abrams Took Over my Spotify Wrapped

It’s no secret that Gracie is one of my favourite artists… I actually don’t shut up about it! The Secret Of Us is my favourite album from this year and I haven’t stopped playing it since it was released—which is very apparent in the statistics I received. Of course there are some other artists mixed in there as well and I want to go over it in a little more detail with you.

My listening minutes have gone down over the past few years, but I think a lot of that has to do with school and obviously lifestyle. I’ve learned that I have a hard time focusing with music playing, so I never listen to it at school or when I’m studying. I also never play music overnight, so that takes off a ton of time.

This definitely represents the amount of time I spend listening to music in my free time though! I usually have something playing when I’m doing odd tasks like making gifts or friendship bracelets, cleaning my room, or hanging out with friends. There’s also nothing better than a song with a good bridge while driving.

This is not surprising. At all.

Although, it is the first year that Taylor hasn’t been number one! Taylor has always taken the top spot on my wrapped playlist, but I’m not surprised that Gracie claimed it this year. I love both of their new albums…. but TSOU>TTPD.

Gracie’s music is so special to me and i often wonder if she was literally inside my head while writing. Her bridges are unmatched and I love that she bounces between sad indie music and fun pop music; I can listen to her music in any mood.

This is pretty expected! I saw Taylor, Gracie, and Lizzy in concert this year, so of course I was listening to their setlists on repeat. Noah and Olivia were also touring, but I did not get tickets sadly, so I was instead just listening to their music on spotify to make up for it!

There are two artists that have been HUGE for me in the last few years, but didn’t make it into my top 5 this year—Harry Styles and Phoebe Bridgers. Harry isn’t too surprising to me though. Since Love on Tour ended, my obsession faded a little bit and I’ve been exploring new artists. Phoebe not appearing in my top 5 is kind of monumental. I absolutely adore phoebe and her music, but it definitely represents some harder times for me. Her music was on repeat when I wasn’t feeling my best, so to see some more upbeat artists like Olivia and Gracie on there must mean this year has been a little better for my mental health.

This was my favourite section from wrapped this year. I clearly love TSOU, but I didn’t expect it to take over my top songs (not mad about it though!). Risk was the first single and Blowing Smoke was my initial favourite from the album, so that is likely why those took the top two spots. Free Now and Close To You have been consistently on replay since the album release. Tough Love was a favourite for a little while when I made some really good friends this year and felt really proud to know them. I’m sure that if the deluxe version had come out sooner, That’s So True would 100% be on there.

My music taste in June was very upbeat and included artists like Gracie Abrams, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift. The warm weather brings out the best of me! By the end of the summer, my listening profile had shifted and I was more into folk music and artists like Lizzy McAlpine, Noah Kahan, and Bon Iver. This definitely shifted because I was getting excited for fall, the cool weather, and rainy days.

Also I have no idea what is up with the vibe names this year but we’re working with it anyways…

As a self-proclaimed fangirl, Spotify Wrapped may be one of my favourite holidays. I just love to see what I was into over the course of the year and if my predictions were accurate! Although the graphics on this post took a ton of time, it was worth it (because spotify’s were not matching the vibe) and ended up being fun to make!! I love having this platform to share things like this 🙂

All the love,

Grace
